8. I have lost weight only to regain it again. How is this program different?
Obesity is a chronic disease and requires a lifelong treatment plan. It’s not just about losing weight; it’s also about keeping it off. We will get you started with a weight loss plan, take you through transitioning to regular food and then long term weight management by offering medical supervision, comprehensive lifestyle education, expert counseling and ongoing personalized support. The reason most individuals experience weight regain is because they terminate the treatment. At Advanced Diabetes and Medical Weight Management Center, once you reach your goal weight, we develop a lifelong maintenance plan to assist you in maintaining your weight loss.
7. How often will I need to come in to the office?
All patients are encouraged to come in to clinic weekly for weigh-ins and to attend class. This ensures the best success. However, depending on the weight loss plan, patients may need to follow up monthly, bi-monthly, or weekly. Medical monitoring (visits with our medical provider) is dependent upon your weight loss plan.
4. If I only use meal replacements, how will I learn to keep the weight off?
Meal replacements simplify food choices so that you can focus on the behaviors necessary for long-term success. By attending and participating in our weekly classes led by professionals in the field of weight management, you will learn how to incorporate the lifestyle changes necessary for long-term weight loss success. When ready to return to regular food, you are slowly transitioned from meal replacements to regular food, providing an opportunity to practice skills learned in classes.
1. What is the Medical Weight Management Program?
We offer a comprehensive approach that addresses the medical, nutritional, behavioral and emotional changes necessary to promote long-term weight loss. It is a 2-year intensive lifestyle management program. The curriculum is unique in that the focus is on long-term success and the behavioral changes needed to accomplish this. Weekly classes are taught by professionals in the field of weight management including Registered Dietitians, Clinical Psychologists/Life Coaches, Exercise Specialists and Behavioral Clinicians.
10. Is it safe for me to participate in this program if I have diabetes?
Yes, our diabetic patients obtain tremendous health benefits from weight loss. With appropriate weight loss and exercise, many of our diabetic patients are able to discontinue diabetes medications, including insulin! Dr. Dey is an Endocrinologist and will adjust your medication as necessary.
9. Do I have to use Optifast meal replacements to participate in your weight loss programs?
No, OPTIFAST Meal Replacements are just one of the options available for weight management.
5. Do you offer HcG, Vitamin B12 shots, or other supplements for weight loss?
We do not participate in the latest fads or unproven methods to promote weight loss. Advanced Medical Weight Management Program uses an evidence based approach to weight management. We offer a safe and effective non-surgical approach to weight loss and long-term weight management. The Medical Director is board certified in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology.
2. What are the Program’s options to weight loss?

11. How do I get started?
6. Do you offer medication for weight loss?
FDA approved medications may be helpful for some patients to lose and/or maintain weight loss. When used in conjunction with a formal program, medication can be an important adjunct to assist with weight loss and maintenance. However, when medications are use alone, they only produce mild weight loss effects. The use of FDA approved medications for weight controls are made on an individual basis based on your medical history, lifestyle, metabolism, and diet history. FDA approved medications may be used in conjunction with our complete meal replacement program, partial meal replacement program, or a calorie controlled meal plan when needed and if desired by the patient.
3. What is OPTIFAST® Meal Replacement and how will it help me lose weight?
OPTIFAST Meal Replacements are a nutritious alternative to eating regular food. You are able to consume a nutritionally-balanced, low-calorie diet without hunger. OPTIFAST WORKS! You can safely lose 3-5 pounds per week. This rate of weight loss is typically not recommended with food alone because nutritional requirements are difficult to meet. While speed of weight loss is not the primary goal, research shows that patients who lose weight more quickly, also lose more total weight and keep the weight off longer than individuals that lose slowly.
